Living after Midnight: this song is better when it isnt live.
For concert album cynics, heed this: half of these 23 tunes have not been performed on the two previous Priest live discs, and Owens really belts out those screams with greater accuracy than Halford was able to summon in his last few years in the band.
That being said, most of the songs on here are very heavy and as should be expected with a good live album, more immediate than the studio versions.

Judas Priest - Live in London 2CD - Bowl of Flakes
It just doesn't make sense to me why so many Priest fans are disappointed with Tim Owens after hearing 98 Live Meltdown and Live in London.
And when you consider that Live Meltdown and Live in London were recorded 100% live, the differences between the two singers become even more apparent...
Seriously, just watch the Priest Live video from Memphis 1982 or listen to the bonus tracks on the remasters.

CoC : Judas Priest - '98 Live Meltdown : Review
_'98 Live Meltdown_ features the set which the Priest have been touring the world with recently and it is, overall, excellent.
The band's most essential songs are, of course, played: "Living After Midnight", "Breaking the Law", "Victim of Changes", etc., but, as is often the case with live records, the set list is the place where I start having doubts.
Firstly and foremostly, the Priest's live sound has been reproduced with clarity and power.

MELTDOWN covers the entire Priest spectrum, from "Diamonds & Rust" to "Electric Eye" to "Blood Stained." K.K. Downing and Glenn Tipton's double guitar attack provide the classic riffage and solos, never slowing the pace.
The resulting album was JUGULATOR; this live recording from that tour is a powerhouse of metal dynamite.

"Priest… Live!" was everything Metal was allowed to be in the big '80s and allowed them to not only reach larger and larger audiences but to display their most extravagant production on stage, if not the world's greatest captured on tape.
Cheesy as it was, I still don't know the thought process that went into the cover design, but "Priest… Live!" served its purpose and redirected the band's focus back to being the potent Metal force they had always been.

After the jugulator album I was a little dissapointed at Rippers abbility in such a high profile band as priest, but he is very capable and redeemed himself completely.

If you have 98' Meltdown, this album is that and some...tracks that is. I think it isnt as great as 98 Meltdown but it gives you the oppertunity to hear the greatest metal band in the world with ripper preforming Heading out the Highway and Desert Plains and United among others from demolition.
Second, it also has a more exiciting feel as a live album, since it is the return of the band from a 4-5 year drought, and you can sense it in the way Ripper presents the songs-complete with stage antics.
Their Live albums are amazing and this is no different.

98 Live Meltdown by Judas Priest CD
Tracks from most JP albums (except Rocka Rolla, Point Of Entry, Turbo, and Ram It Down which is why it has 4 stars.), great feel of the crowd, and loud bone crushing metal delivered by new frontman Tim "Ripper" Owens.
It's different than Jugulator or Demolition, Ripper is better live than in the studio and this album will not at all be a disapointment to you.
This is my personal favorite live album because of the great production and variety of songs.

Only the greatest of live albums can effectively transport the listener into the audience, KISS's Alive I is a good example, as is Judas Priest's more recent '98 Metal Meltdown and Rush's Different Stages.
Side one of this twelve-track live disc consists entirely of tunes from his 1998 masterpiece The Chemical Wedding.
Bruce is my favorite overall musician in the world, I absolutely love almost everything he's released, whether it's an old Iron Maiden disc or this, his newest live solo album.

To follow up the genius monster Jugulator and the brilliant double live album ยด98 Live Meltdown, Demolition should prove to be a quite surprising release.
The rest of the songs are all solid and good tracks and my overall impression is that Demolition is a very good album with just a few songs lacking behind the rest.
I listened to the album a couple of times and that was it.

Rolling Stone : Ripper Returns in Iced Earth
Plucked from obscurity by Judas Priest to replace legendary frontman Rob Halford, Owens recorded two studio albums (Jugulator and Demolition) and one live set ('98 Live Meltdown) and toured the world with the band he idolized as an aspiring metal singer.
Owens originally did the recording with no intention of joining Iced Earth, but upon his dismissal from Priest he considered his options and decided to go forward with the American trad-metal vets.
Despite his split from Priest, Owens continues to maintain close ties with his former bandmates, and songs featuring him will be included on a Judas Priest retrospective box set due later this year.

We don't even get an Accident song until the title track rolls in at number nine, kind of a disappointment if you ask me. I love Chemical Wedding, but Accident is nearly as good, and it's almost criminal that it only gets three songs.

 REVIEW: '98 Live Meltdown
Judas Priest's '98 Live Meltdown was the latest candidate.
Back in February (1998) when I saw The Priest live in concert twice, I was blown away at the newfound energy these metal veterans had.
It started with the addition of Scott "The Octopus" Travis in 1989 (I can't say enough about this man's playing...), and now with a fresh set of vocal chords and a new attitude, Judas Priest is showing the world how to put on a metal show.

The album performed respectfully on the charts, as did its ensuing world tour, which was documented a year later with the release, 98 Live Meltdown.
She was so impressed with Owens that she videotaped the show, and forwarded it to Travis and his fellow Priest bandmates, who had been on hiatus for several years by this point (after longtime frontman Halford left the group in 1992).
It was during this time that Owens and Winter's Bane guitarist Lou St. Paul penned a concept album together, Heart of a Killer, which told the story of a murdered who gets a heart transplant from the same Judge that sentenced him to the death penalty.
