  Science Fair Projects - (33342) 1998 WT24
When 1998 WT was discovered, it was found to have a slightly smaller aphelion than 1993 DA (1.019 au), and was thus the closest thing to an Apohele asteroid known at the time.
1998 WT was the second asteroid discovered to be close enough to Venus as to be within the major planet's zone of influence.
(33342) 1998 WT has an orbit that not only crosses Earth's orbit, but is roughly parallel to it at its furthest.

 Radar Investigations of Asteroid 33342
On Dec. 16 and 17, 2001 asteroid 1998 WT24 passed at the distances of 0.0125 AU and 0.0139 AU respectively from Earth at a declination of 42 deg and therefore was visible by both bistatic radar systems Evpatoria R Medicina and Goldstone R Medicina.
The radar echo from 1998 WT24 at 6 cm was not detected on-line in Evpatoria R Medicina system with real-time spectral analysis, while the same radar echo from this asteroid was successfully detected in Goldstone R Medicina system at 3.5 cm.
The echo energy achieved for 1998 WT24 was high enough for estimating its size: the hull of polar silhouette obtained from extent of the spectra is approximately sphere with diameter 410 m.

Perceived Significance: The results of this research will enable investigators to develop models which infer characteristics of the microstructure of a regolith from remote sensing observations undertaken at a spatial resolution many orders of magnitude larger than the size of the inferred texture.
The smaller of the asteroid's two lobes has much higher gravitational slopes than the larger lobe, lending credibility to the idea that once the two lobes were separate entities.
Surprisingly, there are no global tectonic patterns aside from a weak anti-correlation of mountains and volcanic centers at the global scale (Schenk et al., 2001) and a frequent association of mountains and paterae at the local scale (Jaeger et al., in press).
