Norrland County (in 1645 divided as Västerbotten County, Hudiksvall County and Härnösand County.

Älvsborg County, or Älvsborgs län, was a county of Sweden until December 31, 1998 when it was merged with the counties of Gothenburg and Bohus and Skaraborg to form the county of Västra Götaland.
The municipalities of Habo and Mullsjö, which were adjacent to the city of Jönköping, ceded from Älvsborg to acced Jönköping County, on January 1, 1999.

For many years Dalia made up the made up the northern part of the former County of lvsborg, but in 1999 it was replaced by the larger County of Vstra Gtaland.
In the 16th century Dalsland had the status of a County (Comitatus) and the was represented with an Earl's coronet.
