| | History of the village of Rhu, Dunbartonshire, Scotland (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05) |
 | | Rhu itself was thus described by a traveller in 1798: "It can hardly be denominated a village, consisting only of a few houses situated near the Kirk, at a very small distance from which is the manse." Its main activity was fishing, mainly for salmon, which sold for as little as a penny a pound. |
 | | Rhu played a great part in my childhood and is very dear to my heart. |
 | | The spelling of Rhu was introduced in the 1920s because so many strangers mispronounced Row, which is really the english form of the Gaelic word rudha, pronounced "roo-a" and meaning 'promontory'. |
