Year 10,000 problem - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The year 10,000 problem is the collective name for all potential software bugs that may emerge as the need to express years with five digits arises.
In the months leading up to the beginning of the year 2000 (see the Year 2000 problem), the year 10,000 problem was given somewhat humorous exposure by people in the media.
A lot of date-handling programs during the year 2000 displayed the year as 1900, 19100, or 100 because the programmers often simply inserted the text "19" in front of a calculation of the last two digits of the year as a shortcut or a way to save memory space.

Man has been changing climate for 8,000 years - Stormfront White Nationalist Community
Humans began altering the climate 8,000 years ago, long before the industrial revolution, claims a leading climate scientist1.
It was only a couple of years ago that I heard that we had less than 13 90+ degree days for many summers (I cannot remember the number anymore, but it was like nine out of 10 summers or something).
This of course begs the question that if the tiny number of people in the world even up until a couple of hundred years ago could have had such a 'massive' impact on the global climate, how can present and projected future numbers fail to have an even bigger impact?

This lethal approach to problem bear programs has done little to lower the number of problem bears or protect the public.
"Yet the BC Government continues with a failed policy that has done nothing to lower problem bear complaints or the number of people hurt by bears."

 Dropship 40,000
Whilst we were working on the ways in which Battlefleet Gothic and Epic 40,000 could be combined, a number of ideas were bandied about which although not exactly in line with what we were aiming for, nevertheless turned out to be quite good fun.
In principal the idea is very simple, instead of rolling for the number of boarding vessels that are attacking a cruiser say, play out the boarding action as an actual game of Warhammer 40,000.
If you do decide to employ this rule (which I highly recommend purely for the fun), feel free to adjust the time limit to best suit both players (you could agree on longer if you like but try to be consistent and make sure both players agree with the length of time allowed).

IGN: Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Faction Feature - The Eldar
This is reflected in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War with the Eldar having a number of highly specialized Infantry units that are incredibly good at doing what they are meant to, but weak at everything else.
Though relatively few in number compared to the other races, the Eldar focus their talents on one particular style of combat, making them an incredibly tough, hard-hitting opponent.
We wanted to make sure that each race in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, had it's own distinctive style of visual effects, partly to make them really distinctive on the battlefield and partly to make sure each race's 'personality' was reflected visually.

Professor breaks own record -- for thrill of pi
Figuring out pi to much more than about 1,000 decimal places serves little purpose in math or engineering, but researchers say it helps push computing power to a new level and can test the accuracy of supercomputers.
Pi, usually given as 3.14, is the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle and has an infinite number of decimal places.
The number is the subject of numerous books -- from "The Joy of Pi" to "Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi: A Math Adventure" -- and has fascinated and confounded mathematicians for centuries.
