A hazard index (HI) of 1 means that the estimated dose is equal to the safe dose.
A hazard index greater than 1 indicates that the estimated dose exceeds the safe dose and noncancer health effects cannot be ruled out.
A hazard index less than 1 indicates that the estimated dose is less than the safe dose and noncancer health impacts are unlikely.

A total of 200 patients (95 E; 105 C) were randomised to consume two cans/day of the E or C supplement (480 ml, 620 kcal, 32 g protein +/- 2.2 g EPA) for eight weeks in a multicentre, randomised, double blind trial.
In view of evident noncompliance in both E and C groups, correlation analyses were undertaken to examine for potential dose-response relationships.
E patients demonstrated significant correlations between their supplement intake and weight gain (r = 0.50, p<0.001) and increase in LBM (r = 0.33, p = 0.036).

Determining the Vitamin E Level Needed to Improve Pork Quality
The results of this study suggest that vitamin E accumulation in loin muscle increased linearly with supplemental vitamin E level and that this may be dependent on dietary fat type.
Vitamin E concentration of muscle samples, Minolta color measurements, pH (initial and ultimate), and drip loss (using the filter paper method) were determined.
Supplementation with vitamin E at 800 mg/kg resulted in a lower initial pH compared to pigs fed either 0 or 400 mg/kg of vitamin E. However, ultimate pH was not affected by fat source or vitamin E supplementation (Figure 6).

The prefix symbols Y (yotta), Z (zetta), E (exa), P (peta), T (tera), G (giga), and M (mega) are printed in upper-case letters while all other prefix symbols are printed in lower-case letters (see Table 5).
The grouping formed by a prefix symbol attached to a unit symbol constitutes a new inseparable symbol (forming a multiple or submultiple of the unit concerned) which can be raised to a positive or negative power and which can be combined with other unit symbols to form compound unit symbols.
Prefix symbols cannot stand alone and thus cannot be attached to the number 1, the symbol for the unit one.

 UNODC - Bulletin on Narcotics - 1959 Issue 1 - 007
The increasing consumption of the last-named drugs, to which pholcodine has recently been added, reflects the increase in the world population, the rising standards of living, the development of the practice of medicine, and the extension of medico-social services in a large number of countries and territories which almost entirely lacked them in 1934.
The marked decline which, despite those factors, has occurred in the estimated consumption of morphine as such during the period under review, is no doubt due partly to the appearance of numerous new narcotic drugs, mostly synthetics, pride of place among which must be given to pethidine.
According to the third study in the series published by the World Health Organization under the title "Synthetic substances with morphine-like effect ",2 the analgesic potencies of pethidine and morphine are in the approximate ratio of 1 : 5.

 Vitamin E
A combination of vitamin E (1000 IU/day) and pentoxifylline (800 mg/day) completely reversed a case of radiation-induced cervicothoracic fibrosis in a 67-year-old woman after an 18-month course of treatment.
Vitamin E, 750 mg/kg intraperitoneally, given with 5-fluorouracil had a greater anti-tumor effect in mice bearing human colon cancer lines than either agent alone; treatment led to complete cessation of tumor growth.
The authors theorized the vitamin E blocked lipid peroxidation-mediated toxicity, while not impairing the anti-tumor property of doxorubicin.14 Both the toxicity prevention effect and the lack of inhibition of vitamin E toward doxorubicin were confirmed in a later experiment.89
