  EmergentDemocracyPaper - Joi Ito Wiki
It is possible that there is a method for citizens to self-organize to deliberate on and address complex issues as necessary and enhance our democracy without any one citizen being required to know and understand the whole.
Links between weblogs, the ability to view the histories of individuals through their weblogs and the persistence of the entries enhances greatly the ability to track positive reputation.
The community of toolmakers should be encouraged to consider their possible positive effect on the democratic process as well as the risk of enabling emergent terrorism, mob rule and a surveillance society.

 Wiki History
It has been claimed by some that the ideas that led to the Wiki concept have their origins (see: WikiWikiOrigin) in the ZOG database system effort, first materialized at Carnegie-Mellon University in 1972.
Other Wiki sites have a feature where the poster can enter a line of descriptive text when saving changes to a page, which puts "ChangeSummary" data right on their "RecentChanges" pages.
Wiki is a very popular system and without it, we wouldn't have such an evolved internet as we do today.

Link aggregation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (via CobWeb/3.1 planetlab-01.bu.edu)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Link aggregation is a computer networking term which describes using multiple Ethernet network cables/ports in parallel to increase the link speed beyond the limits of any one single cable or port.
Link aggregation is an inexpensive way to set up a high-speed backbone network that transfers much more data than any one single port or device can utilize.
It is possible to trunk 100-megabit ports together, but trunking a 100-megabit port and a gigabit port together will most likely not work, even though mixing port sizes within a trunk is technically supported in the 802.3ad standard.

Meatball Wiki: WikiMarkupStandard   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
It unnatural if you have to speak 5 different wiki markup languages to discuss 5 topics on 5 different wiki engines, so it is less problematic to migrate to a common basic markup standard than to keep multiple markups.
I hope most wiki authors could agree on such a basic syntax as that really should be in the basic set (not sure about underlining though as this might be confused with links).
For example usign sample bodies of wiki pages and various engines it will be trivial to create statistics about the spread of particular markup and also to see which important markup is split into majorities among the compared wikis.

Wiki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Many public wikis will allow completely unrestricted access so that people are able to contribute to the site without necessarily having to undergo a process of 'registration', as had usually been required by various other types of interactive websites such as Internet forums or chat sites.
A single page in a wiki is referred to as a "wiki page", while the entire body of pages, which are usually highly interconnected via hyperlinks, is "the wiki"; in effect, a wiki is actually a very simple, easy-to-use user-maintained database for searching or even creating information.
Note that it is possible for a wiki to render the visible anchor for such links "pretty" by reinserting spaces, and possibly also reverting to lower case.

Inbound link - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (via CobWeb/3.1 planetlab-01.bu.edu)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20)
Links are inbound from the perspective of the link target, and conversely, outbound from the perspective of the originator.
Inbound links were originally important (prior to the emergence of search engines) as a primary means of web navigation; today their significance lies in search engine optimization (SEO).
Increasingly, inbound links are being weighed against link popularity and originating context.

BW Online | June 7, 2004 | Online Extra: Wikis' Winning Ways
Since wikis depend on cooperation to avoid the flame wars that plague everything from e-mail to discussion groups and blogs, many wikis implicitly or explicitly encourage people to contribute material that most people will find objective.
In some ways, wikis are at about the stage of the Web, circa 1994, when the browser was just getting out into the public domain and pages were both primitive and dominated by nerds' interests.
One of the most popular is Meatball Wiki, a sort of community conscience for wiki makers and travelers, with tips and philosophical discussion about the nature of online communities.

Is It Possible to Build Links too fast? The Answer Inside! - 1. Link Building Basics
Their update schedule is staggered which means if you requested 30 links this month it could take the engines three or four months to visit and index each of those sites.
But, if you combine that with the first scenario I presented, you see that it is pretty hard to build links too fast (unless of course you are requesting and receiving tens of thousands of links per month).
What I’m trying to say is the best approach to building links rapidly that should not set off warnings would be to attempt to request links from a variety of sources.

Applications create possibilities for millions of credulous users, whereas OSes impose limitations on thousands of grumpy coders, and so OS-makers will forever be on the shit-list of anyone who counts for anything in the high-tech world.
(1) each of these companies is in what we would call a co-dependency relationship with their customers.
So it's no longer really possible to think of GUIs as being distinct from the OS; they're now an inextricable part of the OSes that they belong to--and they are by far the largest part, and by far the most expensive and difficult part to create.
