In the Norwegian Army, grenadier is used as a rank to distinguish the professional soldiers from the conscripts.

The 101st Grenadiers was a regiment of the British Indian Army.
The Regiment claimed that it was the oldest grenadier regiment in the British Empire; the British Army Grenadier Guards did not gain its Grenadier title until 1815 after its actions against the French grenadiers at the Battle of Waterloo.
The battery of the Royal Horse Artillery subsequently withdrew and the Grenadiers, as-well as the rest of the Indian forces, fled towards the 66th Foot, the sole British infantry regiment present.

When the 101st was reactivated in 1956, the 501 was incorporated as part of the TO&E. In the spring of 1944, General Bill Lee, the original commanding general of the 101st Airborne had to relinquish command due to a heart ailment.
The 101st Airborne Division was deactivated in late 1945, and ceased to exist as a U.S. Army unit until it was reborn in 1956.
Soon after, the 101st patch was substituted as the 506th became members by attachment of the Screaming Eagle division at Ft Bragg, N.C. In September, the 506th sailed to the U.K. aboard the SS Samaria.

In October 1945 the 4th Bombay Grenadiers was redesignated The Indian Grenadiers and alloted to India on Partition.

Since it was known that the 352d Volks Grenadier Division could not have reached this point the first guess was that the 5th Parachute Division, believed to be farther north, had pushed down into the area.

Mere infantry were re-named as grenadiers to fit into line with the whole motorised direction of the German forces, whilst they retained names such as infanterie-division to reduce confusion.

That said, I'd have left that mission to the members of the 101st in the recent Iraqi example.
The light infantry guys deployed for rear area security are National Guard units who I trust could do the job, but the 101st trains full time for it.

We heard about it after midnight from the U.S. Army MPs who were out in force clearing out bars, bistros and bordellos in the city of Reims in northern France; there were plenty of 2 1/2 ton trucks available to take the men of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions back to their barracks.
Professor Peniche served with the 101st Airborne from D-Day to VE-Day.
