102 Dalmatians - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
102 Dalmatians is a 2000 live-action film, produced by The Walt Disney Company and starring Glenn Close as the villainous Cruella de Vil.
It is a sequel to 1996's 101 Dalmatians, itself a live-action remake of the 1961 Disney animated feature One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
Kevin and his girlfriend Chloe, who happens to be Cruella's parole officer, get the idea of bringing their plight to the people through the press, but media reports of the shelter's problems attract an unlikely benefactor — Cruella.

Considering that the average member of the movie's primary audience (children) is notoriously undiscriminating about his or her viewing habits, 102 Dalmatians will almost certainly turn a profit, but this poor excuse for entertainment is as pointless and offensive as Blair Witch 2.
102 Dalmatians is crass commercialism at its worst.
Meanwhile, cute Alice Evans and likable Ioan Gruffudd are stuck in the bland, thankless roles of the two-legged protagonists.

101 Dalmatians - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is a remake of the 1961 animated film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (which in turn was based on Dodie Smith's 1956 novel The Hundred and One Dalmatians).
It stars Glenn Close as the villainous Cruella de Vil, and Jeff Daniels as Roger, the owner of the 101 Dalmatians.
Now they are sent on a mission to round up dalmatians, and when they fall a bit short of their goal, it comes to Cruella's attention that Perdy has just given birth to a litter of 15 puppies.

While 102 Dalmatians won’t be confused for a brilliant piece of filmmaking, it largely avoids the painful trappings of other movies that focus on adorable subjects and can be a mildly enjoyable experience.
I suppose 102 Dalmatians could have taken this route, but since that would mean that the sequel would focus on dogs who try to make Cruella into a coat, the possibilities seemed limited.
Nonetheless, 102 Dalmatians offered inoffensive entertainment that rarely provoked much reaction from me in either direction; I didn’t love it, but I thought it was watchable and moderately entertaining.

"102 Dalmatians," which opens today, is the sequel to the live-action "101 Dalmatians" from 1996.
The film's title is justified by the fact that 102 dalmatians are needed for Cruella and Le Pelt to succeed in their diabolical plan -- to make a stylish outfit, made up entirely of dalmatian skin.

With 102 Dalmatians, the Disney studios have proven that when it comes to going to the dogs, more is definitely not the merrier.
France's most popular export besides brie has long since turned into a caricature of himself, and in 102 Dalmatians the producers milk that realization for all it's worth–Le Pelt likes to refer to the furry little critters as "poopies," par example (and ad nauseum).
The finesses of the script (attributed to four screenwriters no less, and far removed from anything Dodie Smith ever dreamed up) are quickly dispensed with, since all it takes for a paroled Cruella to be shaken from her years of successful aversion therapy in the slammer is the tolling of Big Ben (?).

This Dalmatians begins as the dastardly De Vil is released from a corrective program which has turned her desire to skin pups into a desire to help them.
And while the previous Dalmatians was peppered with an abundance of animals — horses, sheep, squirrels, raccoons, and nearly as many bunnies as puppies — 102 is surprisingly low in its cuteness quotient, with very few adorable antics, and minimal canine activity until the final escape.
The pivotal problem plaguing both live-action Dalmatians is that the dogs themselves don't talk — a concern seemingly addressed with the addition of Waddlesworth, who serves as an interpreter for the audience and adds some much-needed animal perspective and humor.

After spending a few years behind bars where she has undergone extensive psychotherapy, we are led to believe Cruella DeVil (Glenn Close), a convicted dog-napper (and participant in the illegal fur trade), has had a significant change of heart and has become a raving dog-lover.
But Cloe Simon (Alice Evans), her parole officer, is convinced the puppy poacher can't change her spots--probably because one of the dogs Cloe owns is a Dalmatian named Dipstick, who (coincidentally) was one of Cruella's captured canines in the last movie.
Sexual moments were limited to a fashion show featuring a brief shot of a model wearing a fur bikini, and Cruella's wardrobe throughout the film, that is as uptight as her character.

While the film is essentially a replay of the first one, the children in the preview audience cooed on cue for the adorable pooo-pays and giggled at the parrot who thinks he’s a Rottweiler (voiced by Eric Idle), but otherwise seemed bored by the talky, overwrought plot.
