Abdicate - Chronology accorging to Scripture
1072 BC Eli dies and the ark is taken by the Philistines, I Samuel 4:12-18 at 98 years old.
1062 BC I Samuel 7:2, 20 years until David called for the ark from Kirjathjearim in the first year of his reign, I Chronicles 13:5-6.
Now I know of Acts 13:21, but remember Samuel's time is included and because of the ark being in Kirjathjearim for 20 years from Eli's death to David's reign, well that doesn't leave enough time for 40 years to pass to be attributed to Saul.

This document does not give the beginning of a Sothic cycle, but a calendar date for the rising of Sirius, which can be retrocalculated as 1872 BC if the sighting of Sirius was made in the Memphis-Lahun region.
James writes that "the most widely used system of dating in classical antiquity was that of the Olympic Games, which were regularly held in Greece every four years up until their abolition in AD 393 by the Emperor Theodosius.
The official list ran back to 1068 BC, but James shows that anything before the 400s BC must be regarded with suspicion, because it seems to have been invented at that time.

An archive of the 11th century BC from SE Turkey A private archive of cuneiform tablets was found in the excavations at Giricano directed by Dr. Andreas Schachner (Institute for Near Eastern Archaeology, University of Munich) as part of the Ilisu Dam Salvage Project.
In two texts Ahuni is identified as coming from Tushhan, which may lend support to the suggestion of Karlheinz Kessler, that Ziyaret Tepe on the opposite side of the Tigris (currently being excavated by an international team led by Dr. Tim Matney) should be identified with this Assyrian city.
In addition to remains of the Early Iron Age and Late Bronze Age the excavations at Giricano have revealed the remains of several substantial building levels of the Middle Bronze Age (late third and early second millennium BC) and of the Late Chalcolithic period (Gawra periods A and B).
