	10BASE2 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		10BASE2 (also known as cheapernet or thinnet) is a variant of Ethernet that uses thin coaxial cable (RG-58 or similar, as opposed to the thicker RG-8 cable used in 10BASE5 networks), terminated with BNC connectors.
		In a 10BASE2 network, each segment of cable is connected to the transceiver (which is usually built into the network adaptor) using a BNC T-connector, with one segment connected to each arm of the T. At the physical end of the network a 50 Ohm terminator is required.
		For this reason, 10base2 networks could be difficult to maintain and were often replaced by 10BASE-T networks, which (provided category 5 cable was used) also provided a good upgrade path to 100BASE-TX.

		The "2" in 10Base2 indicates the maximum segment length in hundreds of metres –; the maximum aggregate length of cables you can use, with up to 30 computers connected, before you have to start using routers, bridges or switches, of which more later.
		A 10Base2 segment (a segment, in this case, is a network with no bridges or switches or other fancy devices in it) contains two or more computers, each with a network card (NIC) fitted with a T-piece which accepts two network cables, or a network cable and a 50 ohm terminating resistor.

	Support Tips for Hubs
		Each unit in a 10BASE2 network is attached to the network in a "daisy chain", that is, each unit is wired in serial with the previous unit, using 10BASE2 compatible "T-Connectors".
		The 10BASE2 devices are plugged into the 10BASE2 BNC connector on the back of the hub(s), and the 10BASE-T devices are plugged into the RJ-45 connectors on the back of the hub.

	Practically Networked Forums - connect two hubs via BNC and 10Base2 connection?
		The hub has a BNC outlet for using 10base2 cable which I have used to connect to home number 2 (I used this due to the excessive distance of about 600 feet).
		In house number two I have simply fed all the computers with the 10 base 2 configuration (one computer to the next with the "T" connection and a 50 ohm terminator at the end of the line).
		My question is, can I simply hook up another hub to the 10Base2 wiring in house 2 and then use 10BaseT wiring from there for house number 2 (changing the existing wiring from house to house is not an option).

		That would be a metal coax cable fitting between a type N connector on the 10Base5 and a BNC connector on the 10Base2.
		More likely, what you have in mind is the adapter from the 15-pin AUI connection to BNC 10Base2 coax.
		I could probably dig up a couple of 10Base2 transceivers if I looked around my various heaps of stuff, they have gone out of style within the past few years.
