For the achievement, the division was cited by Lt. Gen.
In 1950, the division started concentrating on training and preparation for "Exercise Swarmer," scheduled to be held in May 1950 near Ft. Bragg, N.C. As a result of re-supply techniques learned on "Swarmer," forces in the Korean Conflict had superior re-supply methods and mobility over the enemy forces.
Upon its restoration to the division, the 188th was redesignated a Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Northern Luzon is bounded on the north and east by the Pacific Ocean and on the west by Lingayen Gulf and the South China Sea.
The Cagayan Valley, averaging 40 miles in width, stretches from Aparri on the north coast to Bambang in the south, a distance of 200 miles.
This was the natural stronghold selected by General Yamashita and his Shobo Group of 152,000 men, determined to defend Northern Luzon by concentrating his Japanese detachments at various approaches to the Cagayan Valley with his headquarters at Baguio, 20 miles northeast of Rosario.

While other American troops were driving on Manila from the north, the 11th Airborne made an amphibious landing 60 miles south of Manila, 31 January 1945, at Nasugbu, and began to drive north.
The final operation of the Division was conducted on 23 June 1945, in conjunction with the advance of the 37th Division in northern Luzon.
In July 1945 the Division trained; in August it was transported by air to Honshu, Japan, via Okinawa, for occupation.

 25th Infantry Division Association: The Division
The Hawaiian Division's support units composed primarily of the 3rd Engineer Regiment, the 11th Quartermaster Regiment and the 11th Medical Regiment were reorganized and redesignated as separate battalions and assigned to the two new divisions.
During the period from the summer of 1966 to the spring of 1967 the 25th Division was the largest division in Vietnam with four brigades under its command, the division's 1st and 2nd Brigades as well as the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division and the 196th Light Infantry Brigade.
On 1 August 1967 the 3rd Brigade rejoined the 25th Division and assumed control of the former elements of the 3rd Brigade, 4th Division, the 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry, 2nd Battalion (Mechanized), 22nd Infantry and the 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry.

Once the capitol was liberated, the 11th made a daring raid behind enemy lines and liberated 2,147 Allied POWs from the Los BaƱos Internment Camp.
