The 11th AEGON Computer Chess Tournament (Mankind vs Machine) was held on April 10-17, 1996 in The Hague, Netherlands.
Computer chess experts predicted that a computer would be world chess champion in 10 years.
In 1970 the first all-computer championship was held in New York and won by CHESS 3.0, a program written by Atkin and Gorlen at Northwestern University.

On Friday, April 11th, students from Langston Middle School attended the 13th annual LEGO Olympiad at Lorain County Community College.
The Lego Olympiad is sponsored by the Nordson Corporation and hosted by the student chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers at LCCC.

You should ignore tournaments organized by A Levy and concentrate on the 8th Computer Olympiad as Vlado suggested.
Have a look at the conditions of contest for the 2003 "world computer bridge championship" at www.ny-bridge.com/allevy/Montreal/coc2003.html These conditions are bizarre and autocratic, to say the least.

Martin Orr, the Methodist College, Belfast won a silver medal at the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) at the University of Athens, Greece (11th - 18th September 2004).
Martin will also be awarded the €1,500 IBM Scholarship for winning the IOI Silver Medal at an awarding ceremony later this year.
