Vacuum tube and electron vacuum tube and audio vacuum tube 12AX7 at LOW Prices!
The 12AX7 vacuum tube was originally intended as miniature form-factor follow-on to the 6SN7 vacuum tube family of dual-triode low-cost amplifier tubes for audio and computer applications.
The 12AX7 is the most common member of a huge family of miniature twin-triode type of vacuum tube types.
Presently the 12AX7 vacuum tube is made in various versions in Russia, China, and Slovokia and one in Serbia, for a total annual production figure of 2 million units (estimated).

The Plate 1 of the 12AX7 is connected to the HT high DC voltage via a 100 K ohms 1 watt resistor.
The output of the 12AX7 gain stage Plate 1 is safely decoupled with a 10 mf 450 volt capacitor and this is followed by the 25 K ohms Gain stage 2 gain control.
I got the idea for the sweetening capacitors connected between the ground and the plate of the 12AX7 gain stage 2 because on the Leslie 122 valve amplifier circuit there is a high frequency suppression caused by the.0047 capacitors that are wired between the plates of the two 6550 power valves and the ground.

The non-constant plate resistance provides the major character needed to emulate the most popular triode, the 12AX7 because its voltage gain is very nearly constant.
The clipping on the negative side is largely a function of grid conduction and the nature of the grid circuit.
Notice that the distances between the crossings is quite similar for the 12AX7, but are increasingly greater when moving to the left for the XGPA™.

 12AX7 Tube Type Review
Tung-Sol 12AX7 - There are only so many ways to describe tube tone and most have become cliché's.
The Tung-Sol 12AX7 has the gain and drive of a Chinese 12AX7 and the pure tone of a Mullard or Brimar from the U.K. I've had two people come to me recently with amps they thought were in need of complete overhauls.
The 12AX7 EH has a nice balanced sound, fairly low noise floor and excellent performance in terms of microphonics.

The construction of the 12AX7 / ECC83 is such that noise and microphony are reduced to a minimum.
Hum is reduced by the use of a coiled tungsten heater.
The 12AX7 / ECC83 is particularly suited for use in resistance - coupled voltage amplifiers such as those used in the preamplifier and input stages of Hi-Fi amplifiers, phase inverters, multivibrators and numerous industrial control circuits where high voltage gain is desired.

After all, the 12AX7 is a small signal or preamp tube intended for voltage amplification.
It is difficult to definitively assign a particular personality to a given tube type because ultimate performance depends in part on the amp's operating point and the quality of the power supply and output transformer.
In this area, the miniature 12AX7 came close to equaling the magic of the KT66 and KT88.

Two amplifiers were chosen for the evaluation, both of which use 12AX7 type dual triodes in their input circuitry.
This amplifier is well suited to this application since all of the colorations and distortion products are audible due to the absence of loop feedback, output linearity is good due to use of a limited amount of current feedback in the cathode circuits of the output tubes.

 RCA 12ax7 Pspice Model Test
The model will be demonstrated for a 12ax7 vacuum tube triode though it can be applied to any other type of triode easily.
And because grid current levels are known to vary by as much as two orders of magnitude from tube to tube in a same manufacturing lot there is no reason to be too fussy with this side of the data as long as it corresponds moderately well.
In the case of vacuum tube triodes both the grid and plate current functions exhibit transfer characteristics which make them ideal for polynomial interpolation; that is, both current function dependencies to Vpc are knee-less, unlike transistor and pentode devices, and their evolution from one constant input voltage curve to the next very is very gradual.
