 The 12th (Eastern) Division in 1914-1918
Unlike the troops of 8th Division who had to cross a wide no man's land in the bright morning sun, the 12th Division attack, at night, adopted sensible tactics of advancing across no man's land while the artillery bombarded the enemy and rushed the last few yards when it lifted.
The special role of 12th Division in the attack of 20 November was to capture its first objective and then form a defensive flank to the south east, keeping in touch with 55th (West Lancashire) Division which was not attacking.
The role of 12th Division, still involved in pushing through and past the Epehy defences, was to secure the vantage points up to the St Quentin Canal and to protect the left flank of the 27th Division of the United States Army which was attacking under orders of Fourth Army.

The 12th Armored Division was an armored division of the United States Army in World War II.
Going over to the offensive, the Division attacked south from Colmar, and in a lightning drive, effected junction with French forces at Rouffach, 5 February, sealing the Colmar pocket and ending German resistance in the Vosges Mountains.
Maintaining the rapid pace, the 12th crossed the Rhine River at Worms, 28 March, advanced toward Wurzburg against light resistance, and captured that city.

The Division was reformed as a second line Territorial Army formation just before the start of the Second World War, a duplicate of the 44th Home Counties Division.
In April 1940 the 12th Infantry, along with the 23rd Infantry and 46th Infantry Divisions, were sent as pioneer units to France.
As a result the 12th Infantry suffered heavy casualties during the Battle of France and the subsequent retreat to and evacuation from Dunkirk.

By Gefreiter Gerhard Dreisbach, J.R. he rather sketchy history we have of the activities of the 12th division at the battle of the Somme mentions that the division suffered very heavy casualties, over 60%, and mentions that the division was later pulled out of the line for a time to rest and refit.
The entire British XIII corps, the 18th, 30th, and 39th divisions, and the 7th division of XV corps including the poet Siegfried Sassoon, were facing the decimated 109th /23rd, 62nd, and the north end of the 63rd regiments along the east-west line and the bend south.
Along the 12th division front, a total of 1,882 prisoners were captured by the allies, mainly from the 6th Bavarian Reserve Regiment.

Epéhy was a strong "Defended locality" in the Battle Zone of the 21st Division when the Germans (attacking right to left across this photo) struck in dense fog on 21st March 1918.
This memorial to the 12th (Eastern) Division lies alongside the road, opposite Malassise Farm, which was an important Battle Zone position held by the 2nd Royal Dublin Fusliers in March 1918.
The farm was reconstructed after the war and now consists of modern sheds, silos, etc. The 12th Division recaptured this ground in the great British advance in September 1918.

 Combat Chronicle- 94th Infantry Division
On 19 February 1945, the Division launched a full-scale attack, storming the heights of Munzigen Ridge, backbone of the Saar-Moselle Triangle, and took all objectives.
The Division then moved by rail and motor to the vicinity of Krefeld, Germany, assuming responsibility, 3 April, for containing the west side of the Ruhr pocket from positions along the Rhine.
With the reduction of the pocket in mid-April, the Division was assigned military government duties, first in the Krefeld and later in the Dusseldorf areas.
