Blur : 13 - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Blur's penitence for Brit-pop continues with the aptly named 13, which deals with star-crossed situations like personal and professional breakups with Damon Albarn's longtime girlfriend, Justine Frischmann of Elastica, and the group's longtime producer, Stephen Street.
When Albarn and crew risk some honesty, 13 shines: on "Tender," Albarn is battered and frail, urged by a lush gospel choir to "get through it." His confiding continues on "1992," which alludes to the beginning -- and ending -- of his relationship with Frischmann.
Musically, the saddest songs on 13 are also the clearest, mixing electronic and acoustic elements in sleek but heartfelt harmony.

As for the rest of the album it just a horrible mess of styles thrown together to make it sound like they've been listening to the coolest albums around and that America's underground is really cool which is ironic given that this band originally wanted to go against all that.
While that album had oozing soundscapes, inventive lyrics and a sense of adventure even in dealing with some similar viewpoints (although not all)......this feels completely lazy, lyrics depressed 15 year olds would laugh at, music that doesn't really do much and not a lot much else.
This album has more or less of the regular Blur features, with one quick-paced heavy metal song like there often is on a Blur C.D., as well as songs with electronic noises, ones with a more quiet ambience, and ballad-like tracks such as "No Distance Left To Run".

SAGA Generation 13 reviews and MP3
— 'Generation 13' is Saga's top achievement: after a not so impressive return to the music arena in the early 90s, with two albums that simply had some interesting moments, 'Generation 13' showed a band that decided to challenge itself massively.
This concept album centered upon the current youth's obsession for futile pleasures and inability to cherish the real good things in life (including love) is a continuous musical journey that relates Sam's wicked way of life until he dramatically finds out that what he needs is redemption.
Well this concept album instead works well from the beginning to the end, and moreover the orchestrations are always vivid.

Suave," which rose to number one in the charts as soon as it was released, is reminiscent of the '60s and '70s, and, sung as it is in a serious and deliberately "suave" style, will have you giggling in no time.
With this album, Parokya ni Edgar shows us that after ten years in the biz, they still haven't grown up, and that, for now, is a good thing.

Her debut album was ever so slightly overhyped which then made the follow-up, "The Diary Of Alicia Keys," ever so slightly over-anticipated upon its fall 2003 release.
An album that will be in the homes of millions of soulful fans around the world, and her third album is just going to continue this trend.

CNN - Regarding Henry: Rollins' new band and album - August 13, 1999
The outspoken, bitingly funny Rollins is currently touring with his brand-new Rollins Band and testing out songs from the band's forthcoming (January) album "Get Some Go Again." The new version of the band includes guitarist Jim Wilson, bassist Marcus Blake and drummer Jason Mackenroth.
The album includes a cover of the Thin Lizzy song "Are You Ready," which the Rollins Band covered as a gift to the late Lizzy singer Phil Lynott's mother.
The band managed to release more than 10 albums before 1986, when founding member Greg Ginn broke up Black Flag and focused on running his SST Records, one of the nation's more influential independent record labels.

The truth is that i enjoy Nas new album, but it was about time he dropped it and it took Jay-z Takeover for him to drop the album quick.
Also, on this album, no two tracks sound alike, and Nas shows just how versatile he is on tracks like “One Mic”, “Destroy and Rebuild”, “Rewind”, “Smokin”, on all of these tracks he’s got a different flow.

The chunky "Bar Hoppin'" is a loose handful of fun, as is the leadoff track, "Dream-O," but the slick "I'm Still Dreamin'" and the radio-friendly "Everywhere She Goes" are a little too clean in contrast.
Still, it's a well-produced album with a grab-bag of solid songs, particularly "If It's True," the sole contribution by original Daredevil Larry Lee (whose voice hasn't slackened a bit since the mid-'70s).
As is evidenced by 13, the band is older, a little less reckless, and a little more cautious, but the people who bought the Ozark Mountain Daredevils' records in their heyday have aged too, and maybe this is just the sound they're looking for.

The album was said to have been nearly finished at the time of Smith's passing last October.
In spring of 2003, Smith told Under the Radar that much of the album, as it then stood, was recorded in first or second takes, sometimes while working without sleep for days on end.
The finished version reportedly still bears the marks of this ragged creative process, as well as a combination of the sonic complexity of Smith's later solo albums and the lo-fi simplicity of his earlier ones.
