		This is the farthest northern galaxy in the core of Abell 1367.
		Forms a close trio with IC 2955 0.9' NNW and Z097-118 2.9' W. This galaxy is in the core of Abell 1367 and is the brightest in the field with N3857, N3859, N3868.

		Three law professors who had assisted in the drafting of Section 1367 (see House Report 27 n.13) explained shortly after the statute's enactment that Section 1367(d) mirrors a tolling provision that was proposed as part of the American Law Institute's 1969 recommendation to codify pendent-claim jurisdiction.
		Because the provisions of Section 1367 that govern federal-court proceedings apply in the same manner to respondent as to private defendants, there is no reason why Section 1367(d) should apply differently (or raise any county-specific constitutional difficulties) when a pendent state-law claim is refiled in state court.

		The galaxy UGC 6697, located about 1.5 million light years from the core of the galaxy cluster Abell 1367, is shown here in a composite X-ray (blue)- optical (red & green) image.
		The Chandra image reveals a sharp edge on the lower left that is inside the optical edge of the galaxy, and a long tail of X-radiation extending to the upper right beyond the optical galaxy.
		As the galaxy plunges toward the center of the cluster at a speed of several million miles per hour, pressure due to this motion through the ambient hot gas compresses cooler gas in the galaxy and pushes it back away from the edge of the galaxy.
