Around 960 BC, David's son Solomon had a large temple built on the Phoenician model for the cult to Yaveh by skilled craftsmen sent by king Hiram of Tyre.
In 586 BC the Chaldaean king Nabuchadnazar II overran the region, destroyed the temple of Jerusalem and forced the Hebrews of the kingdom of Judah into exile to Babylon where, once more enslaved, their culture was enriched by Babylonian elements as they replaced the Hebrew language with Aramaic which was the local language.
