The early history of the Hittite kingdom is known through tablets which may have been first written in the 17th century BC but survived only as copies made in the (additional info and facts about 14th) 14th and (additional info and facts about 13th) 13th centuries BC.
This document, known as the Kadesh (or Qadesh) treaty, was signed sometime between 1300 BC and 1286 BC, after endless and unsuccessful fights against Egyptian forces commanded by (King of Egypt between 1304 and 1237 BC who built many monuments) Rameses II (see (additional info and facts about Battle of Kadesh) Battle of Kadesh).
The Hittite people thus vanished from the historical record, although their language and culture remained as late as the 5th century BC, and their legacy can be traced in several small independent states in central and southeastern (A peninsula in southwestern Asia that forms the Asian part of Turkey) Anatolia.

 Hittites
The early Hittites, whose prior whereabouts are still unknown, borrowed heavily from the pre-existing Hattian culture, and also from that of the Assyrian traders — in particular the cuneiform writing and the use of cylindrical sealss.
Since Hattic continued to be used in the Hittite kingdom for religious purposes, and there is substantial continuity between the two cultures, it is not known whether the Hattic speakers — the Hattians— were displaced by the Nesilli speakers, were absorbed by them, or just adopted their language.
This document, known as the Kadesh (or Qadesh) treaty, was signed somewhere between 1286 BC and 300 BC, after endless and unsuccessful fights against Egyptian forces commanded by Rameses II (see Battle of Kadesh).

Around 2000 BC, the region centered in Hattusa, that would later become the core of the Hittite kingdom, was inhabited by people with a distinct culture who spoke a non-Indo-European language.
The name "Hattic" is used by Anatolianists to distinguish this language from the Indo-European Hittite language, that appeared on the scene at the beginning of the 2nd millennium BC and became the administrative language of the Hittite kingdom over the next six or seven centuries.

The kingdom ruled northern Mesopotamia (including Syria) for about 300 years, out of their capital of Washshukanni, (or Wassukkani, or Vasukhani, meaning "a mine of wealth.") Their warriors were called marya, which is the proper Sanskrit term for it.
By approximately 1350 BC, the Mitanni kingdom had weakened, and had become practically dependent on the Hittites, then under the rule of Shuppiluliuma I.
Assyria, previously under Mitanni control, was able to assert its independence during the reign of Ashuruballit I in approximately 1330 BC.

This record of "the sun stood still" may have actually occurred during the year 1512-1511 BC when both the Saros and Metonic cycles occurred in the same year, and may be a very important biblical clue to "the process of time" throughout history as indicated by an astronomical sign.

Egypt: The Temple of the Oracle (Temple of Amun) at the Siwa Oasis in Egypt   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-23)
Another tell maintains that the temple existed as early as 1385 BC, and was built in honor of Ham, the son of Noah, by Danaus the Egyptian, while yet another legend relates the founding of the temple to the Greek god Dionysus.
The Oracle at Siwa was held in such high favor in Greece that an Athenian galley was commissioned solely to convey envoys to Mersa Matruh, then called Ammonia, where they would begin their desert trek to the oasis.
We are told that Alexander the Great, in 331 BC) consulted the Oracle in order to seek confirmation that he was the son of Zeus (Amun), and therefore a legitimate ruler of both Egypt and other lands that he conquered.
