		The heaviest that 14 Shades of Grey gets is in the first song "Price To Play" which curiously was the album's commercial single.
		As a lot of their nu-metal counterparts were fading away in 2003 (see Limp Bizkit), Staind stepped up to the plate and hit a home run with the follow up to their extremely popular CD "Break the Cycle." "14 Shades of Grey" proved to be another commercial success for the quartet who hail from Massachusetts.
		With the addition of a new daughter (and I would assume the success of "Break the Cycle"), "14 Shades of Grey" has a more happier tone to it than the darker tones of the previous albums.

		Perhaps both are the case when it comes to Aaron Lewis, lead singer of Staind, a band whose legions of disenchanted, youthful audiences revel in the angst brought forth in every song.
		So it comes as no real surprise that 14 Shades of Grey follows a similar song pattern of misconstrued problems involving relationships and the like.
		While Staind's roots remain deeply seeded within the angst-driven rock which made their first two albums so successful, the band has showed a willingness to expand past those qualities and the results are very promising.

		What I call Staind is one of the better rock bands to be around in a while, and 14 shades of gray is not an exception to the rule, but an extension of it.

		An ultimately disappointing follow up to the highly enjoyable Break the Cycle, 14 Shades glaringly shows the band's weaknesses.
		I named it one of the best albums of 2001, which more than anything, goes to show how musically bankrupt that year was, outside of Tool's Lateralus, and System of a Down's Toxicity.

		In grand rock and roll tradition, Staind now have their grey album--14 Shades of Grey--just as the Beatles had the white album and Metallica the fl album.
		While lumped in with the often indistinguishable nu-metal crowd, Staind stand out, thanks in part to memorable ballads, such as the pained and beautiful "It's Been a While" and "Epiphany" from the quartet's 2001 breakthrough Break the Cycle.
		I recommend Chapter V more but 14 Shades of Grey is a great album which does the opposite of every other nu-metal/grunge band IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY FILLERS !!!
