Parr 1455 Solution Calorimeter   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
The heat of wetting as measured with this calorimeter serves not only as a thermochemical measurement, but also as a rapid method for determining the surface area of a powdered solid, since the heat released when a power is treated with a wetting agent will be proportional to the exposure surface area.
The 1455 Calorimeter has both digital and analog data outputs, also an onboard data logging capability which will store data in the instrument for later transfer to a computer or to a printer.
The precision obtainable with the 1455 Solution Calorimeter will be a function of the amount of heat liberated by the reactants and the temperature at which the test is conducted.

Johann Gutenberg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1455, Gutenberg demonstrated the power of the printing press by selling copies of a two-volume Bible (Biblia Sacra) for 300 florins each.
This was the equivalent of approximately three years' wages for an average clerk, but it was significantly cheaper than a handwritten Bible that could take a single monk 20 years to transcribe.
The one copy of the Biblia Sacra dated 1455 went to Paris, and was dated by the binder.

printing press   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
The invention of the printing press by Johann Gutenberg in 1436 and his printing of the first Bible in Latin in 1455 set in motion change that would bring knowledge to the masses.
It was Gutenberg's invention of printing with movable type that made the Bible, in any language, vastly more influential and important.
The printing press stoked intellectual fires at the end of the Middle Ages, helping usher in an era of enlightenment and set the stage for the European Reformation and a challenge to the religious monopoly of the Catholic Church, which was no longer the only source for religious knowledge.
