OCCULTATION BY (147) PROTOGENEIA - 2003 SEP 10
On 2003 Sep 10 UT, the 132 km diameter asteroid (147) Protogeneia will occult a 9.8 mag star in the constellation Aquarius for observers along a path across Nicaragua and eastern Australia.
In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 3.4 mag to 13.1 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 17.3 seconds.

In the night of July 28/29, 2003 a faint 11.2 mag star TYC 5794-00324-1 will be occulted by a 137 km asteroid (147) Protogeneia.
This update is based on USNO/Flagstaff and TMO astrometry for the asteroid and UCAC2-beta star position.
Close finding chart (prepared in GUIDE8): * occulted star is in center - labeled with cross * field is 3.5x3.5 degrees * limiting magnitude is 13.0 * labeled stars have indicated SAO numbers * remarks: Second chart shows 30' blowup to show correctly the star in field.
