149 Medusa is a bright-coloured, stony (additional info and facts about main belt) main belt (Any of numerous small celestial bodies composed of rock and metal that move around the sun (mainly between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter)) asteroid.
When it was discovered, Medusa was by far the smallest asteroid found (although this was not known at that time).
Since then, many thousands of smaller asteroids have been found.
