 14th MS Infantry Reg
Organized by the consolidation of the 14th and 43rd Infantry Regiments and part of the 5th (6th?) Infantry Regiment at Smithfield, NC.
The companies of the Fourteenth Mississippi Infantry Regiment were mustered into the Confederate States service for twelve months at Corinth May 27-30, 1861, and field officers were elected June 5, 1861.
The regiment was ordered to attack a battery in its front, supported by several regiments of Grant's army, which it did gallantly, fighting for an hour until ordered to retire.

 History of the 25th Infantry Division
The 27th and the 35th regiments and the newly attached 161st Infantry Regiment of the Washington Army National Guard (The Hawaiian National Guard's 298th Infantry Regiment was released on 3 August 1942 to protect its home state) defeated Japanese Forces on Arundel (Kohinggo) and Kolombangera Islands and participated in the capture of Vella LaVella.
The 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry was transferred to the 3rd Brigade as its third battalion and the 2nd Battalion, 9th Artillery was attached as the direct support artillery battalion as well as Troop C, 3/4th Cavalry as the brigade's reconnaissance element.
The 27th and the 35th Infantry Regiments, the 298th Infantry Regiment of the Hawaiian Guard, plus a field artillery brigade, formed the core of the new 25th Infantry Division.

 69th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers
The artillery in rear of the regiment, of which there were many pieces, poured in rapid rounds over the heads of the men; the infantry reserved their fire until he had approached within point blank range, when with a loud cheer they delivered a volley which checked and threw his front line into confusion.
On the 14th the regiment was drawn up on the main street near the centre of the city, where it remained until noon, when it was moved to the west end of the city, and during the following night was withdrawn, and recrossed the river.

Shown are early (pre-1924) officers' insignia of the 45th, 57th and 62nd Infantry, along with enlisted collar discs worn by the 26th Cavalry, 45th and 62nd Infantry, and the 14th Engineers.
Although the 43rd, 62nd Infantry and 25th Field Artillery (PS) were disbanded in 1922 because of the reduction of the army, several of the battalions were used to form the new 26th Cavalry (PS).
This regiment's insignia consisted of an infantry blue shield, on which is a star outlined in white and an abaca tree, and bearing a white canton charged with the badge of the 10th US Infantry.

With this and the terrific job you did with the 14th Regiment history, maybe some of us guys from the 3rd Brigade 25th, (north) won't feal so left out.
Two of our eight infantry divisions are rated C-4, unfit for combat, the other six are at C-2, which means they have problems.
