  Frisco 1522 Unofficial Web Site
Frisco 1522 is a 4-8-2 'Mountain Type' Steam Locomotive built in 1926 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia for service on the St. Louis - San Francisco (FRISCO) Railway.
Retired by the Frisco in the early 1950s, she was donated to the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis for display.
In 1988, the all volunteer St. Louis Steam Train Association completed a 3 year restoration of the 1522, beginning her second career as an excursion engine throughout the Midwest and South.

The Frisco 1522 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Company in 1925 and has a wheel arrangement of 4-8-2 otherwise known as the 'mountain type' wheel configuration.
The 1522 was originally a coal burning locomotive, but was remodeled to burn fuel oil shortly after being purchased.
The 1522 served the Frisco Railway until the 1950's when it was retired.

The 1522 is one of the oldest main line operating steam locomotives in the country, and the only current example of a "Mountain" type 4-8-2 wheel arrangement in operation.
The 1522 is owned by St. Louis County and is a part of the collection of railroad artifacts of the Museum of Transportation.
The 1522 will be preserved in such a way that it can be made operational again and will return to being a static exhibit at the Museum of Transportation.
