  DJzone DJ Magazine Review
For the next test, I relocated the 1530s to a stage unencumbered by the acoustic nightmare canopy and the audience surrounded the system to a depth of about 50 feet.
The 1530s are definitely too tall and heavy to stand-mount, but not quite tall enough to floor stand.
I liked the 1530s for their very good sound and rugged durability; they will give you years of solid use.

MSN Encarta - Dissolution of the Monasteries
To understand the Dissolution, and the concerns of men and women who were opposed to it, it is necessary to consider why Henry, working through his chief minister Thomas Cromwell, decided to cut England's ties with the papacy in Rome and introduce the Reformation into the kingdom.
Before the 1530s, the Church in England, as part of the Roman Catholic Church of Europe, was subordinate to the pope.
Henry decided to divorce his first wife Catherine of Aragón, who had failed to give him a male heir, but the reigning pope, Clement VII, refused to annul the marriage.

Drawings and woodcuts   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-20)
From the 1530s Holbein used paper primed with carnation, modelling the features in fl chalk and adding details of the hair and ornaments in Indian ink with either the brush or pen.
The beginning of this more refined technique is apparent in the drawings of the early 1530s, as in those of Sir Thomas Elyot and Lady Elyot, where the penwork has a new subtlety and delicacy.
Occasionally in the later 1530s Holbein made very elaborate drawings with minutely precise detail; more commonly, particularly in drawings associated with royalty where presumably the sittings were brief, the tendency is to eliminate all detail and to concentrate solely on a schematic outline.

 Thomas Tallis
Dover Priory, however, was far from wealthy--in the early 1530s its annual income was about £170, less than a tenth of that of a major Benedictine abbey such as St Alban's--and it can hardly have been in a position to spend lavishly on music.
Robert Okeland or Hockland, later to be one of Tallis's colleagues in the Chapel Royal (the religious department of the royal household, including both clerics and musicians), had been organist of St Mary's in 1534-5.
In fact, during the late 1530s and early 1540s government policy on religion was astonishingly unpredictable and sometimes contradictory, and this must have had an extremely unsettling effect on church music.

Reviews in History: The English Nation: The Great Myth
(2) Historiography English insularity, thanks to the propagandists of the 1530s, the common lawyers of the early-seventeenth century, and the Whig history invented late in that century by Gilbert Burnet, became embedded in English historiography until the revisionisms of the twentieth century began to reveal the truth.
From the 1530s to the 1640s Englands history was seen by those participating in it to have been deeply embedded in the history of the European Reformations.
I might doubt whether or not this was all a consequence of the 1530s, but I wouldnt doubt that it characterises a core feature of much historical writing before (and in) the twentieth century.

It is thought to have been first inhabited by people crossing the Bering Land Bridge, now the Bering strait, though there are also suggestions of migration from the southern Pacific Ocean.
From the 1530s, the indigenous inhabitants of South America were invaded by European conquistadors, first from Spain, later from Portugal, who divided it into colonies.
In the course of the 19th century, these colonies won their independence.
