  Comet Halley
In 1607 it was observed by Johannes Kepler and Longomontanus.
In 1682, the comet was observed by Edmond Halley.
By comparing the orbital elements derived from his own observations with that of the comet aparations of 1531 and 1607, he concluded that these three were the same object, and in 1705, he predicted its return in late 1758 or early 1759.

 Tilman Riemenschneider
The sculpture of Tilman Riemenschneider stands at the threshold of two eras.
Riemenschneider, who was active in Würzburg from around 1483 until 1531, was one of the first sculptors to abandon polychromy on occasion, making a conscious aesthetic decision to leave visible his favored material, limewood.
His sculpture strikes a rare balance between formal elegance and expressive strength, and it is among the most appealing work of the late Middle Ages.

 Edmond Halley (1656-1742)
Halley had observed a number of comets and, following 1695, undertook deep studies to calculate their orbits.
In 1705, he published his "Astronomiae Cometiae Synopsis", including his observation that the comet he had observed in 1682 had an orbit almost identical to those of the comets of 1531 and 1607, and concluded these were aparations of one and the same comet, the return of which he predicted for 1758.
In 1710, Halley discovered the proper motion of some "fixed" stars when using Ptolemy's catalog.
