The star is Regulus = HIP 49669, the brightest star to be occulted at night until 2014 March 20, when Regulus will be occulted by 163Erigone in Ontario and the n.e.

But it is also interesting because 2 nights before, early on October 19, there will be an occultation of Regulus by (166) Rhodope, and the path for that event also will cross southern Spain.
It is the only occultation of a 1st-magnitude star by a sizeable asteroid until 2014 March, when Regulus will be occulted by (163) Erigone in Ontario and the northeastern USA.
So a few of us are planning to travel to Spain for the Rhodope occultation, and will stay there for the Dione event if an improved prediction either verifies Dave Herald's prediction, or moves the path a path-width or less northward.
