A wide and recent analysis of historical and social factors that interfere in the educational process, considering science education, is presented by de Meis (1998), who points out the super-specialization and excess of information as one of the problems which consequently generates the co-existence in the same community of people with different cultural ages.
Chaves and Schall (1999), discuss this super-especialization when compare the development of science and educational process in our society, and state that there are three factors involved: (1) the fragmentation of science; (2) the division between cognitive and affective aspects in school teaching; and (3) the new labor market tax due to globalization.
Science popularization in Brazil is still a quite unexplored area for the academic atmospheres and for the communication means in general.

The funding of science is now 10% of what it was before the breakup of the Soviet Union, scientists receive on the average US$100 a month in salary, cannot afford to eat in a cheap restaurant, must work at non-science jobs to survive.
The two chief character- istics of Soviet science policy were the use of a command and control structure, with various governmental departments tightly controlling various areas of scientific research, and a severe restriction of both publication of results and contacts with the international scientific community.
The new problem is the national budget crisis, which has resulted in a severe shortage of funds, coupled with a tangle of bureaucratic difficulties in the government administration of large scientific projects.

It's not generally appreciated that molecular sequence analysis is a field in its infancy.
Thus it is an inexact science, in which there are few analytical tools that are based on general mathematical principles.
As a result many, perhaps most, phylogenetic trees reconstructed from molecular sequences are incorrect, because they make mathematical assumptions that are not met by the data being analyzed.
