English Civil War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The first (1642–1645) and the second (1648–1649) civil wars pitted the supporters of King Charles I against the supporters of the Long Parliament, while the third (1649–1651) was between supporters of Charles II and supporters of the Rump Parliament.
In the summer of 1642, these national troubles were important in forming opinion out of the welter of indecision about which side to support or what action to take.
In September 1642, King Charles I raised his standard in the market square of Wellington, a small, though highly influential, market town in the English Midland county of Shropshire and addressed his troops the next day at nearby Orleton Hall.

 1642: Civil War in Yorkshire
By March 1642, the quarrel between King Charles I and the Long Parliament had escalated to the extent that the King left the vicinity of London and travelled north.
But Parliament had taken precautions to secure Hull for itself by appointing Sir John Hotham as governor and issuing instructions that the town and its arsenal were not to be surrendered without parliamentary authority.
Then, with a force of 3,000 foot and 1,000 horse, the King returned to Hull early in July 1642, setting up his court at Beverley and quartering his forces around the village of Anlaby.

The masses had to be educated in order to be able to understand the written codes that the colonies were now living under, both religious and secular, and without some sort of education this idea would be impossible.
The Law of 1642 required that parents and master see to it that their children knew the principles of religion and the capital laws of the commonwealth.
Perhaps the most important aspect of the Law of 1642 was that it was a law that had nothing to do with "school" at all.

 Isaac Newton (1642 - 1727)
I propose to discuss the works of Newton more fully than those of other mathematicians, partly because of the intrinsic importance of his discoveries, and partly because this book is mainly intended for English readers, and the development of mathematics in Great Britain was for a century entirely in the hands of the Newtonian school.
Isaac Newton was born in Lincolnshire, near Grantham, on December 25, 1642, and died at Kensington, London, on March 20, 1727.
He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, and lived there from 1661 till 1696, during which time he produced the bulk of his work in mathematics; in 1696 he was appointed to a valuable Government office, and moved to London, where he resided till his death.
