 Swazey & Reeds [1978]. Today's Medicine, Tommorow's Science... Chapter 6.
The science of immunology began to develop in the last decades of the 19th century as one of the major yields of the new field of bacteriology.
The debate that flourished between proponents of cellular and humoral theories of immunity was one of the classic controversies that dot the history of science, generating fruitful research and ideas as well as polemical attacks and counterattacks.
As often happens, this controversy abated when researchers recognized that their work pointed to the involvement of both humoral and cellular factors in immunity, a view that eventually would be confirmed in the 1960s with the discovery of the dual system of immunity residing in the T and B lymphocytes.

It should be noted that the mitochondria genome previously served as the only evidence to support gene variability independent of recombination because the organelle was thought to originate exclusively from maternal contributions.
However, it was recently reported in Science that recombination between parental DNA also occurs within the mitochondria.
Unfortunately, the creation science community has been denying the existence of new alleles rather than looking to cellular mechanisms for the source.4 Before the rapid production of diversity can be understood from an intelligent design standpoint, we must first acknowledge that new alleles are accumulating within recognized baramin, and closely investigate these changes.

Author find that the conformational parameters for alpha-helical residues have less correlation with any two or three parameters, the same results for the relative preference values for position-specific amino acid preferences in helices calculated by Jane S. Richardson and David C. Richardson (Science, 240, 1648(1988)).
The possible reason is that the ith residue in an alpha-helix is also dependent on i+4 and i-4 residues on the sequence besides dependent on its neighboring i+1 and i-1 residues.
