TERM 1   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-09-30)
In the second part of the session, we will consider how different historical visions of literature may influence our understanding and practice of Comparative Literature. There will also be time for a brief discussion of the structure and aims of the course.
The focus here is on the literarity of the text: use of models, typical literary devices, structures and functions, intertextuality etc. The thematic material dealt with here concerns memory and forgetting, the nature of ‘humanity’, language and communication, the notion of incommunicability.
Throughout this section, students are invited to draw comparisons between the three texts dealing with the holocaust, both in terms of the specificity of the individual texts, and within the context of the broader issues outlined above.

The literature on rupture is confounded by differences in the definition of rupture, differences in the accuracy of detection methods and limited identification of the implants.
A range of rupture characteristics have been reported in the literature; from focal rupture involving very small holes with only a small amount of silicone gel being present outside of the shell, to large visible tears and complete disruption with the implant shell surrounded by silicone gel/fluid.
Problems associated with the extraction of relevant data from studies published in the literature are particularly difficult to account for when data published in several studies are grouped together to provide a larger number of implants for statistical analysis.

Although disparate manuscript collections contain examples of Saint-Pavin's verse, the most complete collection is that compiled by Valentin Conrart, held at the Bibliothèque de l'Arsenal in Paris.
Saint-Pavin's gallant and occasional poems have been frequently anthologized since 1652, but the most frankly libertine poems were only first published in a separate, limited edition in 1911 by Frédéric Lachèvre.
A decade later, Félix Gaiffe cited several sonnets about Louis XIV and his brother "Monsieur" (Phillipe of Orleans), the leading homosexual of the day, noting only their urbane sophistication, not their author.
