The word science is either taken largely to signifie any cognition or true assent; or, strictly, a firm and infallible one; or, lastly, an assent of propositions made known by the cause and effect.

20th WCP: Vico's New Science: The Unity of Piety and Wisdom
By means of an examination of three principle aspects of Vico’s science, and by looking to his conception of the origin of the most rudimentary institutions of humanity, primordial piety— fear of the mythic other— is shown to be the origin of poetic wisdom.
Vico's science is, at one and the same time, a science of concrete human praxis, since it is a science of the certain, and a science of divine providence, since it is a science of the true.
Vico's science teaches that the relation of the thinker to Being is not a frontal relation of the spectator to the spectacle, it is rather one in which the thinker finds this whole recurring within his own mind, as something that modulates and modifies his mind.

The Babylonians were quite knowledgeable in a number of areas of science: their knowledge of astronomy was very advanced by even 1500 BC or earlier.
Because modern science distinguishes between subjective and objective and teaches us that objective is “good” and subjective is “bad,” this creates for us an increasingly wide gulf between our perceptions of phenomena and the concepts by which we explain them.
Since Darwin’s time, in Western culture, science and religion have pretty much gone their own ways at a time when new discoveries are constantly being made in science.

Manifesto for Clinical Psychology   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
Of course, this argument reflects the mistaken notion that science is a set of answers, rather than a set of processes or methods by which to arrive at answers.
The dichotomy between science and practice is the classic one-the one codified in the Boulder Model of clinical training with its hyphenated characterization of clinical psychologists as "scientist-practitioners." The implication commonly attributed to the hyphenated Boulder Model is that there are two legitimate types of clinical psychology: clinical science and clinical practice.
The tendency to regard science as only one of the many interests of APA is reflected in an Opinion column in the July 1990 of The APA Monitor by APA President Stanley Graham.

Managing Technologing Policy at the White House   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
The authority of the science advisor, PSAC, and OST rose, and ultimately fell, primarily on the basis of their relationship with the president on national security issues, although they could and did get involved in other issues from time to time.
The president's reorganization of the science advisory apparatus prompted vigorous objections from the scientific community, a reaction that contributed to the establishment by statute of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) in the EOP in 1976.
The science advisor would have to make a concerted effort to get such a rotation accepted by the young researchers' academic advisors; hopefully, a stint at OSTP would eventually be seen as a sign of distinction (as a stint at CEA is for economists), rather than time wasted away from the bench.

As explained in more detail in Why Grassfed Is Best!, feeding cattle their natural diet of grass instead of grain greatly reduces the risk of disease transmission.
