The final Spanish exploratory expedition into Georgia's interior took place in the winter of 1645-46, when Florida governor Benito Ruíz de Salazar Vallecilla led a group of soldiers north from the Apalachee mission province into the villages of the unconverted Apalachicola province along the lower Chattahoochee River in southwest Georgia and eastern Alabama.
Though there were sporadic visits to these villages as late as 1695, the Ruíz expedition was the last major Spanish exploratory venture into Georgia.
The remaining portions of north Georgia would eventually be explored by English traders and soldiers during the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century, long before ownership of the land was acquired through treaties between 1733 and 1838.

Parrot found that the earliest buildings go back to 3200 B.C. It was one of the most prosperous cities of Mesopotamia during the 3rd millennium, and at the end of that millennium helped to bring an end to the great empire at Ur.
But if that were true, the difficulty is that the stories do not reflect anything of the conditions or the customs of the people in the land at that period.
All the evidence from archaeology at this time supports the historicity of the event--the names, the feudal system, the invasion, and the quest behind it, all fit the times.

The Council for British Archaeology is a government funded organisation which works to advance the study and care of Britain's historic environment, and to improve public awareness of Britain's past.
The guide for archaeology is Kris Hirst, who has found some very interesting sites, inevitably many of them with an American (and technological) flavour, but with a good British list too.
The main archaeology list-server is ARCH-L, based at the University of Texas, with a mainly American membership.

Since its publication in facsimile by William E. Gates in 1935, the grammar, the confessions, and the vocabulary of the Ch’oltí’ language have been of great importance to Maya linguistic and epigraphic research.
It is at present the only document that records the now extinct Ch’oltí’ language, once spoken in a large area in the central Petén in Guatemala (an area in which one could find the communities of San Lucas, in the Chol region, and Dolores de Lacandón in the western section).
Erik Boot (1962) is an anthropologist with a degree from Leiden University, the Netherlands.

The main one consists of information mostly from the card indexes of the former Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, which should at least say whether there is any information, even if it rarely tells you what that information is. There is a slightly fuller coverage for London and York.
By clicking on their 'Special Collections' button, it is possible also to find the British and Irish Archaeological Bibliography, with details of articles published between 1695 to 1991, sometimes with a synopsis ; and also the Catalogue of the Library of the Society of Antiquaries, though this is currently unavailable.
If you post a question on this, there is a good chance that you will eventually get some sort of answer: they may sometimes be wrong, but often they are very learned.
