Back in the 16-bit era, people used to always write in to game magazines and ask why game developers didn't put more memory into their games (particularly when it came to Neo Geo game ports) so that the ports would be more exact.

Overall, the article was very interesting, especially since the changes between 32 bit and 64 bit operation were so pronounced, and did not uniformly favor one chip over the other.
Nitpick, OS X does not offer > 32 bit virtual addressing at this time, Apple's shameless hyping of the G5 as a 64 bit machine aside.

Working in a gaming store for years has made me realize that gaming was so much better back in the 8 and 16 bit era...
And it came back to bite me in the ass as I am spending more time collecting games than buying new ones.

Those who lived through the 16-bit era will likely remember a game by Konami called "Sunset Riders." This superb 2-D shooter was set in the Wild West with a tongue-in-cheek style that brought back memories of spaghetti westerns.
Sure it's in 3-D and the controls are a bit more complicated, but the game certainly owes a lot to the action shooters of the past.
Shooting is a bit tough to get used to, mostly thanks to the clunky control system.

Sonic the Hedgehog was a huge hit during the 16-Bit era, whether you loved or hated his games, you can't deny that fact.
On that note, Konami deserves a lot of credit for not only all the great games they bought to us during the 16-Bit era, but every era of gaming.
I didn't intentionally pick Konami games for this, it just so happened that they had a crop of games that met my criteria for this write up.
