Twenty six ships have been documented as being sunk in or near the harbour of Louisbourg between 1713 and 1758.
The Marine Archaeology Unit of the Canadian Parks Service relocated the wrecks and began more detailed recording during the summers of '86 and '87.
This survey was a part of a project to thoroughly document and evaluate the submerged cultural resources of Louisbourg harbour.

FRANCESCO SCIPIONE MAFFEI, MARCHESE DI (1675-1755), Italian archaeologist and man of letters, was born at Verona on the 1st of June 1675.
His Merope, a tragedy, appeared in 1713; Teatro italiano, a small collection of works for presentation on the stage, in 1723-1725; and Le Ceremonie, an original comedy, in 1728.
From 1718 he became specially interested in the archaeology of his native town, and his investigations resulted in the valuable Verona illustrate (1731-1732).

The Offaly towns are all relatively modern and generally owe their origins to the plantations of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Building on the southern side began in the 1740s when the L - plan house west of the post office was built by Matthew Moore, a soap boiler and tallow chandler.
The site of this house was leased to a tobacco spinner in 1713 but the house may have been rebuilt in the 1780s.

The Khoekhoen in the Southwestern Cape lost their grazing lands and slowly their herds were stolen by colonists and brigands taking advantage of instability.
In 1713 a smallpox epidemic massively affected the Khoe at a time when the herds were taking strain from drought conditions and stock diseases.
So far the government has won the court battle, but the Khoe descendants may yet be able to establish their aboriginal title (as native people have done in Canada, Australia and NewZealand).

This site was the location of the largest and most important battle of the war, a battle which changed the course of history in North Carolina.
Neoheroka Fort was attacked in March of 1713 by a colonial force made up largely of Yamassee and Cherokee Indians from South Carolina.
The fort was overrun after a bloody three-day siege, and Tuscarora supremacy in the inner coastal plain of North Carolina was broken forever.

The search for the ship was conducted by Michael Daniel and Philip Masters of Intersal, a private salvage firm based in Boca Raton, Florida, under a permit from North Carolina's Office of State Archaeology.
The Maritime Research Institute, a newly formed nonprofit corporation under Daniel's direction, will manage the excavation of the site; the state retains ownership of the wreck and its artifacts.

At the beginning of November Richard Sermon gave one of the talks at the joint CBA/CAG symposium 'Sons of Woden or Soldiers of Christ' on the linguistic evidence for the periods before and after the Anglo-Saxon settlement.
On the planning and regulatory side we required and monitored excavations at 124-130 London Road by Foundations Archaeology where a substantial area of the previously identified Roman cremation and inhumation cemetery was excavated in advance of a new residential development.
Gloucester Archaeology Unit organised three "roadshows" in 2003, special events aimed at making the work of the unit and archaeology of the city more accessible to the local people of Gloucester.
