 | | The intendant and governor of Canada having requested from the French government a grant of 2,000 francs, to aid in the removal of the Sault St. Louis mission near Montreal to a more commodious location, the Council of Marine orders (April 1, 1716) that the above sum be granted for that purpose. |
 | | It would be necessary to order a fund of 2,000 francs this year on account of this expenditure; and, when he shall be on the spot, he will do what he can to make this amount suffice by urging the savages to contribute, by their labor, to the construction of the fort. |
