		An underlying, all-pervading and inspirational influence on Italian baroque music was provided by its violin-makers, mainly centered in Cremona - the Amati family in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Guarneri and Stradivari families in the 17th and 18th.
		His performance of sacred music, instrumental and vocal, made Lübeck a place of pilgrimage for musicians anxious to advance in their art, and the young Sebastian Bach himself traveled two hundred miles to hear them and to sit at the feet of the Master.
		As the 18th century progressed, European music was also becoming increasingly familiar in the United States, a particularly enthusiastic exponent being Thomas Jefferson, politician, diplomat, foreign minister to France, vice president under John Adams, two-term president of the United States, and of course, author of the Declaration of Independence.

	Music publishing in Baroque Europe
		It is generally accepted that baroque music "began" — if one can use such a term — in Italy, pointing particularly at Corelli as the originator of much that was to become commonplace in baroque musical forms.
		Though Italy had pioneered the printing of lined music manuscript paper, actual scores were still printed using movable type, which was expensive, cumbersome, and too inflexible to reproduce clearly all the ties and other markings which are essential if the composer is to convey his intentions to performers with any degree of accuracy.
		Another interesting side-effect was to spread Italian music throughout northern Europe, at the same time encouraging Italian composers to write for a wider musical taste.

		But most fell by the wayside: the music of Monteverdi and Purcell, of Couperin and Rameau, and of so many others was too dependent for their musical effect on the colors and techniques of Baroque performance to survive the "translation" to performance on later instruments played with later techniques.
		A musical form in which a theme is presented then repeated many times in different guises created by the transformation of elements such as rhythm, tempo, harmony, and accompaniment.

		Whilst his compositional legacy is small, his personal friendship with an impressive number of his contemporaries the most notable being J.S.Bach, Vivaldi and Telemann in conjunction with his influential position as concertmaster of the Dresden Hofkapelle resulted in the creation of a large body of works written for this virtuosic ensemble.
		Music making in Venice had a profound affect on Pisendel and the length of his stay enabled him to study with Antonio Vivaldi, with whom he also became friends.
		The majority of the music however was copied by Pisendel himself, including 22 concerti, 7 violin sonatas and complete sets of parts for 15 further concerti.
