The novel is one of these new ways of reading, knowing, and regulating - of producing - modern gender and sexuality, and also one of the new practices by which women are given cultural authority as mothers (but by viewing their own bodies as both maternal and Other).
In the 1720s the novel participates in cultural debates around gender and sexuality, articulating new bourgeois norms (a way for middle-class men and women to think of themselves both in relation to one another and in relation to others) and remaining in tension with other possibilities, other available stores.

I am engaged in research on early Philadelphia furniture and have discovered several references to a Joseph Colman doing business in Philadelphia in the 1720s.
I would be most appreciative of any information regarding this individual (dates, profession, documentation of the period)and those with whom he dealt, including: John Head, a joiner.
Naturally, any info on furniture of that period would also be helpful.
