 The 1738 Immigrants to Virginia from Nassau-Siegen
A colony of about 50 persons left Freudenberg, in the western part of Nassau-Siegen in March, 1738, to settle in Georgia, and their names were inscribed by the pastor at the end of the Freudenberg Death Register in the church.
However, the names of 5 of the 1738 colonists appear only a year or two later among the group from Nassau-Siegen who were settled at the Little Fork in Culpeper Co., Va, making it practically certain that they had not gone on to Pennsylvania, but had stopped in Virginia.

I have been given copies of many old records from 1738 within the confines of the local churches (Lutheran) in the Baden-W├╝rttenberg areas of Southern Germany.
Johann's wife Maria Dorothea never saw the shores of America, having died aboard the 'Charming Nancy' and thus was buried at sea.
Johann arrived as a widower with 5 children on November 9, 1738.

Evidently he was in poor health; his will was made as a yoeman of Christians Hundred, Delav March 6, 1738 and probated to Wilmington on April 27, 1738.

Their names were written in the end of the Freudenberg death register.
Perhaps John Schneider who had will in Culpeper Co, VA in 1760 (Book A, p.214-5) listing wife Mary and children: John, Adam, and Michael (8 total children).
