History of Indian Science And Technology
India's inner sciences of mind and consciousness are simultaneously (a) being appropriated by the West and (b) being depicted as anti-progressive and irrational.
A strong inner science will definitely strengthen the outer science since it is the inner world which provides the inspiration, creativity, and knowledge that is necessary in the development of a sound outer science.
The divorce of ‘religion' and science is a strictly Western construct due to the dogmatic and rigid nature of the Abrahamic religions.

 Man of Science
Benjamin Franklin had diligently studied the science of his day and had read all the scientific writings he could obtain.
Although by 1755, Franklin's role in diplomatic affairs increased, his interest in science did not.
Although he was urged by his friends to use this return journey to America to revise his memoirs, Franklin used the time for science, writing a pamphlet on "Cause and Cure of Smoky Chimneys." Until his death, Benjamin Franklin continued to explore and wonder about the world around him.

 Celestial Seasonings Spice Up Physics
Paper #2, from a team led by Peter Smith of the University of Arizona, is a stunning visual feast: Science included a special fold-out section of the best panoramas, and with the use of red/blue glasses the 3D topography (created by Larry Sodorblom of the U.S. Geological Survey) snaps vividly in place.
As Peter Smith tells Science Watch, "the Pathfinder vision of the surface was not unexpected, and little seen at the site conflicted with the previous understanding that we gleaned from the Viking landers.
Martian science is undergoing a complete re-write and the graduate textbook used for the past 10 years is now obsolete." This water-rich planet may be more Earth-like than we thought, with a warm wet past in which liquid water flowed and the atmosphere was thicker.

Glacier Bay hot real estate for sea otters, Alaska Science Forum
Ned Rozell is a science writer at the institute.
Sea otters have had a rough time since Vitus Bering’s journey to Alaska: They were hunted almost to extinction in the 1700s and 1800s, made a comeback in the 1900s, then declined again in the last few decades.
Jim Bodkin and his colleagues at the USGS Alaska Science Center in Alaska have studied the sea otter’s recent emergence in Glacier Bay.

The Scientist : Peeking into cytokinesis
The process is complete within a few minutes and is tightly regulated in space and time, but the exact mechanisms by which the cell cycle machinery regulates the contractile ring and the microtubules associated with the mitotic apparatus has been unclear.
In the March 14 Science, Aaron Straight and colleagues at the Harvard Medical School, Boston, US, reported the discovery of a compound called blebbistatin that holds significant promise as a tool to understand how cytokinesis is regulated (Science, 299:1743-1747, March 14, 2003).

Like experimental pop running mates Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, and Xiu Xiu, The Dead Science infuse their songs with sometimes abrasive, sometimes unsettling doses of avant classical, free jazz, and other musical esoterica, while maintaining a heady pursuit of the perfect pop moment.
Combining the hyper-active looseness of improvised music with the economical arrangements of classic pop, the group has achieved a new and strange model of the "power trio," which owes equal debts to Prince, Einsturzende Neubauten, and John Coltrane.
The Dead Science will breathe a drunken lust in your ear and then look the other way.
