Topic: 1792 in science

  Collections: Science
Before the rise of specialized libraries such as the Franklin Institute in the second third of the 19th century, this was probably the largest collection in America of books in those subjects.
As American contributions to the literature of science and technology began to proliferate in the 19th century, the Library Company attempted to acquire them all, but by mid-century it began to fall behind.
It is especially useful for studying the popular or public discourses of science and technology, because it is not an isolated history of science collection, but rather is part of a collection of general literature that includes all subjects and genres of print.

Foundation of Science is The Biblical Worldview
In agreement with this, science writer Loren Eiseley (a non-Christian) maintains that the most curious thing about the scientific viewpoint and philosophy, is that mankind has come up with it at all, because it is not "natural" to mankind.
Eiseley says that science "demands some kind of unique soil in which to flourish" and he (somewhat reluctantly) identifies that soil as "the Christian world which finally gave birth in a clear, articulate fashion to the experimental method of science itself" (Darwin's Century, '61, p.62).
Small wonder that science did not grow out of such worldviews, because, obviously it would be a nonsensical waste of time to study and analyze an illusion.

 Science Education
Already our schools lag behind most of the developed world in science education, and introducing a non-scientific belief in a master intelligence to explain physical phenomena is not a way to lead this nation back into prominence.
The National Academy of Sciences, which was created in 1863 to provide information on the sciences to Congress and other branches of the federal government, has staunchly opposed teaching religious concepts as if they were sciences.
West, who leads the science center's public policy efforts, said it did not support mandating the teaching of intelligent design because the theory was not yet developed enough and there was no appropriate curriculum.

Science Is Not Statistics, by Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr. (Sep. 15, 1997)
The foundation of both science, and Classical forms of artistic composition, is the process by which individual human minds are capable of generating those experimentally validatable discoveries of both physical and cognitive principle, the which are generated as solutions to contradictions which can not be resolved by deductive methods.
It is the efficient interaction between discoveries of physical principle, the domain of physical science, and the use of Classical art-forms to uncover the moral principles of cognition, which defines a science of human history, the science of physical economy, and the corresponding principles of statecraft.
Thus, economic science requires, that the young members of society enjoy a quality of education which emphasizes reenacting validated original discoveries of physical principle and Classical art-forms, as opposed to merely learning approved representations and procedures.

 USC-MSA Compendium of Muslim Texts
In any case the widespread desire for Muslims to have the religious law of Islam applied and to reassert their religious values and their own identity must not be equated with exceptional violent eruptions which do exist but which are usually treated sensationally and taken out of proportion by the mass media in the West.
Nearly every science ranging from mathematics to biology as well as various fields of modern technology are taught in these institutions and some notable scientists have been produced by the Islamic world, men and women who have often combined education in these institutions with training in the West.
At the same time there is an awareness that the educational system must be based totally on Islamic principles and the influence of alien cultural and ethical values and norms, to the extent that they are negative, be diminished.
