This photograph shows the clock made in 1795 for use at Scotland Yard in London.
Its design is not much different to that of the clock made for King's College, Cambridge 124 years earlier.
In 1854, Lord Grimthorpe used a new kind of frame and escapement for the Westminster clock, often referred to as Big Ben, which was set running permanently in 1859.

The comet's second discovery was made by Caroline Herschel during a routine sweep for comets in 1795.
It was quickly confirmed by her brother William Herschel, who noted it could be seen with the naked eye.
Encke would ultimately be the first person to recognise that those comets discovered in 1786, 1795 and 1805 were the same comet.

May be some unusual form of measurement error or it could be new science.
I could quibble with this bit: "Thus, early government investments in establishing goals, providing research support, and sharing risk are necessary to prime the emergence of a vibrant, market−driven hydrogen economy." But it's a throwaway comment at the end of the piece.

Our research currently focuses on an interdisciplinary approach to ''soft materials'', with emphasis on the study of block copolymers, ranging from synthetic aspects of polymer science all the way to the physics of complex fluids under shear flow.
With our recent effort to obtain silica-type materials from block copolymer mesophases we bridge the gap between polymers and ceramics opening up a fascinating research area with potential applications ranging all the way from the life sciences to microelectronics.
Since part of the research effort is conducted at the Max-Planck-Institute for Polymer Science in Mainz, Germany, funding comes from German as well as American sources, some of which are: German Science Foundation (DFG), Max-Planck-Society (MPG), BASF Germany, NSF, New York State Center for Advanced Technology (CAT).
