Quebec (called the Canadas by the English) and most other French possessions held since the defeat in 1759 were relinquished by treaty in 1763.
Upper Canada's European colonization has continued since the American Revolution with Late Loyalists now settling the Niagara peninsula, the Bay of Quinte on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, and lower Ottawa valley, with many aboriginal peoples receiving new lands along the Grand River.
On July 1, 1867, the provinces of Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia become the Dominion of Canada with its capital in Ottawa.

In the 1800's Canada's first and only naval battle took place in Batoche, Saskatchewan; when the HMSC Northcote sailed down the Saskatchewan River to battle the Metis during the uprising led by Louis Riel.
Canada lost this only naval battle when the Metis took the Northcote out of commission by snapping off the smoke stack and setting the ship on fire.
The new surveyors from Canada were surveying in the British tradition of hectares, which allowed only a few individuals the water access.

Bell Canada cited other examples of complaints by its subscribers and potential problems to illustrate how Voicecasting was a nuisance and inconvenience, including unnecessarily tying up a subscriber's telephone line to retrieve messages and filling the limited storage capacity of a subscriber's voice mailbox with solicitation messages.

The company my sone works for is a US based company with Canadian offices..I cannot call him on his 800 line form the states..If I want to call him, I have to call his parent company in NY on their 800 line and ask for his extension...takes awhile but its free..
What I find aggrevating is when I want to make a reservation in the US and all they put on their web site is their 800 number and we cannot access it from Canada.
