 | | ENG L141 1805 Introduction to Writing and the Study of Literature |
 | | Focusing on the ways in which material form influences literary content, we will analyze and interpret literary works -- mostly but not exclusively poetry -- packaged in a wide variety of formats: manuscripts, facsimiles, fine printed books, first editions, literary magazines, commercial anthologies, college textbooks, video and tape recordings, and hypertexts. |
 | | While a certain amount of computer literacy will be a useful by-product of the course, its primary goal will be to stimulate students to produce sophisticated, clearly written analyses of literary texts and other cultural artifacts. |
