Lewis and Clark traveled through what is now Dayton on their return trip in 1806 on what is referred to as the Forgotten Trail portion of the Lewis and Clark Trail.
On the afternoon of May 2nd, 1806, on their way east, they passed through a portion of land that has since been designated as Lewis and Clark Trail State Park.

He was an organizer of the Georgia Society of the Cincinnati, a delegate to the Continental Congress from Georgia in 1784, and a commissioner representing his state during the settling of the boundary dispute between Georgia and South Carolina in 1787.

We note some delicate coppery toning around the obverse periphery, and a tiny die crack connects the interior points of stars five to seven, then another crack is noted from the upper point of star seven along the tops of LIBE.
