Canada in the Making - Constitutional History
French-Canadians in Lower Canada and Loyalists and immigrants from the United States in Upper Canada were not satisfied with the granting of elected assemblies: they wanted control as well.
Naturally, this was opposed by the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada, which was controlled by a French-speaking majority by the end of the War of 1812.
In effect, a compromise was made: the Colonial Office in Britain granted the assemblies control over revenue for a civil list which set the salaries of judges and civil servants and could not be tampered with by the assemblies.

The chemotherapy drugs used in these studies are not new, yet with these study results doctors now have better knowledge of how to work with what's available, meaning many people may live longer without a relapse or spread of their cancer.
