The 1824 Flag of the Texas Revolution
The Federal flag of the United States of Mexico that was adopted in 1824 is substantially the same flag that is in use today by that country.
The first reference to a banner resembling the 1824 Flag is one which appears in a letter from Philip Dimmit, commanding the garrison at Goliad, to General Stephen F. Austin, Commander in Chief of the Army of the People, dated October 27th 1835.
Whichever took place, by the time he reestablished his commandancy of Goliad he had abandoned the 1824 Flag and was using a white flag with a bloody arm holding a sword as his banner.

The papers which accompanied the presidential message of December 13, 1824, transmitting the convention to the Senate, comprised merely an extract from a despatch of Heap of January 24, 1824, and his despatch of March 4, which enclosed a copy of the convention (American State Papers, Foreign Relations, V, 430-32).
A despatch from Heap of March 4, 1824 (D. S., 5 Consular Despatches, Tunis), received at the Department of State August 14, lg24, enclosed a copy of the convention in English, which is with the despatch.
The choice as to the source of the text to be printed is between the copy enclosed with Heap's despatch of March 4, 1824, and the Senate print, both of which were probably copied fron1 the original.

Educators and Students - Tally of the 1824 Electoral College Vote
The Election of 1824 and the featured document, Tally of the 1824 Electoral College Vote, bring to light two important points about the electoral system, one of them constitutional and the other borne of the political party system.
With so many candidates in the election of 1824, it's not surprising that no candidate received a majority of votes in the Electoral College.
Another point of criticism is that the electoral vote distribution is not proportional to the popular vote distribution because of the automatic two votes per state provision.

 Eric Flint: 1824
There are many novels which deal with alternative Civil Wars, usually by changing the course of the war as we know it.
The Missouri Compromise, Kansas-Nebraska Act, Dred Scott Decision, and John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry don't have the chance to radicalize the country, although John Brown does have a major role to play in Flint's novel.
One of the important things the Flint brings to 1824: The Arkansas War is the realization that history is not stagnant, something which would seem to be obvious in alternate history, but isn't.

 1824: Tariff Act of 1824 - Bensonwiki
On 22 May 1824, Congress passed a bill that approved a protective tariff on certain goods in hopes of guarding American industry from cheap foreign imports, mainly coming from Great Britain.
The bill was meant to serve as, “the American answer to the courtship of British industry,” by placing duties on such products as hemp, wool, iron, wheat, and glass, all of which could be produced in the United States.
Yet despite the differences, the bill passed in the House by a margin of 107 to 102 in favor, was approved by the Senate, and signed by President James Monroe.
