AGRICULTURE AND THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION, 1700-1850   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-31)
Output per acre in Britain in 1850 was at least twice as high as in 1300, and output per worker may have increased by as much.
The cross country differences in 1850 do seem to imply that some time between 1300 and 1850 Britain seemingly experienced an agricultural revolution, which made it not only the most efficient producer of industrial goods in 1850, but also one of the countries with the highest output per acre and per worker in agriculture.
By 1850 wheat yields had increased to about 26 bushels per acre, and the share of arable land kept fallow had also fallen to a tenth or less.
