The Carmarthen School of Art was founded 1854 after the Prince Consort had encouraged the art school movement by suggesting that art schools should be extended throughout the provinces.
One of.B.A.Lewis's grandsons was also a student at the School of Art, and before the outbreak of the Second World War he was involved in a project to photograph all the most notable buildings in Carmarthen in case they should be damaged or destroyed by enemy acticon.
In 1971 the Carmarthen School of Art combined with Llanelli to form the Dyfed College of Art, and in 1979 a new modern college was built in Job's Well Road.

 Walter Launt Palmer (1854-1932) - Fine Art Dealers Association
Walter was born in Albany NY in 1854, the son of the famous sculptor Erastus Dow Palmer.
He received the gold medal from the Philadelphia Art club in 1894 and another gold medal from the Boston Art Club in 1895.
He became active in the local art colony and the local art associations, basking in his celebrity status.

 Symbolism in Art Nouveau
Art Nouveau to many is characterised by natural organic forms with curvilinear shapes & contours of rhythmic content.
The symbolic Art Nouveau alluded to the epitome of weakness and vulnerability, temptation and degeneracy.
The power and use of symbols in Art Nouveau were taken to the extremes of decadence in exploitation of eroticism and may have contributed to its downfall just prior to the outbreak of hostilities in World War I. These factors were recognised as a destabilising factor right across ideological spectrum.

The Owens Art Gallery, opened in 1895 at Mount Allison University, is the oldest university art gallery in Canada.

In 1965, Fine Arts was transfered to the newly built Gairdner Fine Arts Building, and the Owens was renovated to serve the functions of a professional gallery.

His father, himself a draftsman, sent Herman to study art in Hamburg and London.

It is in very good condition and was engraved from an original neoclassical statue by W Roffe.
It is over 149 years old and guaranteed to be as described.
